3ple Play Batting Cages is formed
Steven & Angel start working as coaches and even start coaching their own competitive teams
Our Mission & Method
We want to instill in our students the values that feed success far beyond their time playing baseball.
We do all this while also pumping up our students with excitement to learn and play. We know a player’s mindset contributes to everything they do both in and out of the game. We strive to be friends and mentors. Our lives have been impacted by good coaches and we are honored to have the opportunity to do the same for our players.

Our Story
Co-owners Steven Mateo and Angel Genao both signed as professional baseball players with the Anaheim Angel’s
in the Dominican Republic and saw their dreams come true as they came to the US and played together.
Their bond grew as they were not only teammates and friends,
but they also lived together as roommates. During their off season they would teach some
private lessons at others' batting cages and started to feel like teaching might be something they would both really enjoy.
After Mateo was released from the angels in 2017 he decided to move to Utah and teach.
Genao followed shortly after in 2018 to the calls and requests of Mateo to join him.
You may wonder… Why settle in Utah of all places? Firstly, they both played here for the Orem Owlz. Secondly, after traveling through and playing in many different states, mostly in small towns in the West and Mid-west, they both were attracted to Utah for many reasons. They love the mountains, the amenities of the city-suburb areas, the closeness to outdoor recreation, but most of all they love the PEOPLE and the culture of Utah. They can’t talk enough about how Utah people are so welcoming, hardworking, and talented. They felt it would be a great place to have and raise their families.
